Crackle Varnish

It is true that every picture has a story, whether broken or cracked. With Crackle Varnish, you can create the story of your own picture.

It is a two-step water-based crackle varnish. Used in acrylic paint or picture cracking techniques. If the brush is used flat, it distributes evenly on the object. It is important for the brush to be dry.

First, Step 1 is applied to the entire surface. After it dries, Step 2 is applied (For fine cracks, apply Step 2 thinly.). As it starts to dry, cracks begin to form. In this type of cracking, air temperature plays an important role. In cold weather, a hot blow dryer can be used after Step 2 is completely dry.

This accelerates the cracking process (Make sure Step 2 is completely dry.). The gaps in the cracks are filled with oil paint.

A solvent-based varnish is used at the end of the process.

Technical Information:

• All surfaces to be applied must be free of dust, dirt, and oil, and must be dry.
• Should be applied in a horizontal position with a soft-bristled brush.
• Step 2 is applied after Step 1 becomes completely transparent.
• Should be left to dry naturally.
• The size of the cracks varies depending on the thickness of the application.
• Depending on the air temperature, only Step 2 can be applied as a second coat 3-6 hours later.
• Synthetic-based wax or oil paint is used to make the cracks visible.
• Cannot be used with water-based products and water-based varnish. Spray varnish can be applied, and if desired, water-based varnish can be applied over the spray.
• Recommended varnish: Yacht varnish or solvent-based varnishes.
